Dove Shipping Policies

Shipping Policy

Dove has recently expanded its shipping options to provide faster service, in many cases using fulfillment houses and/or drop shipping orders directly from the publishers. In these cases, you will receive an email copy of your invoice from Dove.

When packages are shipped internationally, the drop shipper is required to place a value on the books, so they typically put the list prices on the packing slip. Please note that these are merely packing slips, not invoices. If at any time you need additional copies of your invoices, simply email us at custserv@dovebook.com.

Domestic Shipping

Media Mail is less expensive, so if the order is not time-sensitive, this method is our default option. Otherwise you may order by UPS Ground or Priority Mail. The warehouse being used for shipment determines whether UPS Ground or Priority Mail is used.

International Shipping

For many years we used surface mail for international shipments. It was a slow method, but many customers used it because it was inexpensive.

The US Post Office discontinued this service in 2007, and we have been seeking ways to make up for it ever since.

We now use DHL Global Business Standard for international shipments. We believe this is the best option in terms of expense and efficiency. Typical delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks.

Orders For Not Yet Printed Titles (NYPs)

When you order books that are listed as Not Yet Printed (in many cases these are Standing Orders), it is our policy to ship them to you individually as soon as they become available. If you have ordered an NYP along with other titles that were shipped prior to the NYP's release, the NYP title will carry normal one-book shipping charges. If other books you have on order are ready to be shipped at the time of the NYP's release, they will be combined for the best shipping economy.

Out of Stock/Backordered Books

With the tremendous number of books available, and the difficulty of predicting sales on any item, backorders are sometimes necessary.
Out of stock books can several weeks or more to arrive. It is Dove's policy to backorder these titles and keep them on order. If you determine that you cannot wait for the book and would prefer to cancel, please inform us by email at custserv@dovebook.com.

If a publisher declares a book out of stock indefinitely or out of print, we will email you with this information as soon as the publisher lets us know.

Shipping Insurance

Please note that Dove offers shipping insurance as a protective measure for the customer. It is 5% of the merchandise, and should the books become lost in transit, Dove will provide a replacement or refund if the customer has elected to insure his package. Dove will not provide replacements or refunds for uninsured orders.
