Sales Policy

Payments

All book and software orders must be pre-paid (with the exception of special conditions which exist for libraries). We will accept checks and these credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, DiscoverCard and American Express.

Credit cards are charged for the full amount of your order upon receipt of the order. Out of stock or backordered merchandise may occasionally arrive with price increases from the publisher(s) that were not previously announced. In these cases we must adjust prices accordingly. If the customer needs to cancel a given backorder, appropriate refund(s) will be given upon notification. In the case of publisher out-of-stocks, you will simply have a pre-paid order on file with Dove for the book(s) which will be shipped upon their arrival in our office. Dove reserves the right to cancel orders and provide refunds in some cases, particularly when books are declared out of print or unreasonably delayed.

Foreign Customer Payments

Only U.S. dollars are accepted for payment; checks written to Dove, therefore, must be drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars. Credit cards are frequently the best way to make the dollar exchange. We will not be responsible for the cost of making any currency conversion.

Shipping Charges

We will wait until an order is complete before shipping, provided the completion of the order is anticipated within 5 days.

Flat rates do not apply to multi-volume sets, such as Anchor Bible Dictionary, etc. whose shipping is calculated by weight and determined when we invoice the books, weigh them, and price postage according to destination.

Back Orders

With the tremendous number of books available, and the difficulty of predicting sales on any item, backorders are sometimes necessary.

Web Site Accuracy

Due to fluctuating international currencies and sudden, unannounced price changes from publishers we must advise that prices are subject to change without notice. In some cases, our web site may contain errors. This is true despite hours of proofreading and checking. We will move quickly to correct any errors or inaccuaracies at this site.

Lost Shipments

In the case of an international shipment being lost in the mail, Dove Booksellers will provide a refund after 90 days, provided shipping insurance was selected by the customer. The reason for the 90 days is if a shipment is lost and is returned to Dove Booksellers, this is a fair estimate time-wise.

Shipping Policy

Domestic Shipping

Media Mail is less expensive, so if the order is not time-sensitive, this method is our default option. Ordinarily the US Mail usually works just fine, but you are choosing a shipping method (mail) that the post office does not guarantee, we have no control over, we can not track, the Post Office can not track and therefore can not tell you the status.

If your order is critical, choose shipping via UPS. It can be tracked, traced with guaranteed delivery times to commercial addresses or shipping refunded - US Mail carries no guarantees. Please bear in mind that once the package leaves our warehouse, delays can occur that are beyond our control, regardless of the shipping method.

International Shipping

All shipments will be made by ISAL (International Surface Air Lift). While the shipping costs are slightly higher than the old surface mail which is no longer offered by USPS, the good news is that shipments will be faster, less prone to damage, and the rate of loss will be less.

We are still seeking less expensive methods for international shipping, and there are rumors that something similar to the old surface mail may be available at some point, but it has yet to be confirmed. In the meantime we do the best we can to provide discounts at point-of-sale for very large shipments.

Orders For Not Yet Printed Titles (NYPs)

When you order books that are listed as Not Yet Printed, it is Dove's policy to ship them to you individually as soon as they become available. If you have ordered an NYP along with other titles that were shipped prior to the NYP's release, the NYP title will carry normal one-book shipping charges. If other books you have on order are ready to be shipped at the time of the NYP's release, they will be combined for the best shipping economy.

Insurance

We highly recommend that you elect to insure your shipments. If you have ordered your items to be shipped by regular mail and the items become lost, there is no way to track the package. We will not issue refunds for uninsured items shipped by regular mail that are lost.

Limitation of Liability

Dove Booksellers will issue replacement(s) for insured items one time only, except for used books, where a replacement may not be available, in which case we will issue a refund, limited to the cost of the book(s). We will wait until an order is complete before shipping, provided the completion of the order is anticipated within 5 days.

Out of Stock Books

Out of stock books can take two weeks or more to arrive if ordered via a domestic publisher. They can take three months or more if ordered via an international supplier. In many cases, we are not informed as to which books are out of stock or out of print until after ordering the particular title(s) from the publisher. In addition, publishers can declare a book out of stock indefinitely with no estimated date of reissue, which for all intents and purposes is out of print.

Policy on Declined Credit Cards

If your credit card is declined, you will be notified via email at the time of the failed attempt to process your order. More often than not, this is due to an incorrect expiration date.

You have 7 days from the time the email is sent to respond and resolve the issue.

If we do not hear from you in 7 days, your order will be canceled and the book(s) placed back on the shelf.
